A snippet of my experience as a model
I started modeling seriously at age 16. I joined a popular model/photographer networking site. My profile age was accurate and by laws, age 16 is a minor. However:
- So many photographers messaged me wanting to do a nude photoshoot or partially nude
- So many photographers messaged me, wanting images of me just in my panties and bra (despite having a few swimsuit photos in my portfolio at the time)
What they were wanting LEGALLY CLASSIFIES AS CHILD PORNOGRAPHY! If I was aware of the laws at the time, I could have EASILY going to a lawyer and SUE FOR SOLICITATION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY!
As time passes on I see, there was another disturbing trend. SO MANY photographers would absolutely not work with models who wanted to bring someone with them (aka escort/bodyguard) just to travel with them to the agreed location and to meet with the photographer, saying bullshit excuses like “they got in the way”.
That’s bullshit.
Escorts in the modeling world are done for SAFETY reasons. They aren’t supposed to get in the way of the photoshoot. They’re only there to be a witness so the photographer doesn’t attempt to murder, kidnap, drug you, or hurt you in some way.
This is ESPICIALLY true for the risque genres (nudes, boudoir, burlesque, fetish, etc).
Im 24 now and still model. I make this post because I want you to be safe and be aware that if you are a minor (17 or younger) and photographers are asking for nudes or pics of you in underwear? THIS IS LEGALLY CLASSIFIED AS SOLICITATION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY! Please stay safe and never be afraid to bring a person as an escort/bodyguard to a photoshoot!
Also also, make sure a MODEL RELEASE FORM is signed before EVERY photoshoot. This is a legally binding contract that explains how photos can be legally distributed. If it confuses you, ask for the photographer to clarify it.
